PESHAWAR, Aug 19: The Director Industries of Governor’s Fata Secretariat, Salim Mohmand, has said 3,000 tons each of soapstone and coal would be produced from the mineral deposits in Kurram and Orakzai agencies in the first year of operation.

Mr Mohmand was speaking at a briefing in the Governor’s Fata Secretariat here, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

He said according to the agreement signed between the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation and the Governor’s Fata Secretariat, the directorate of industries and mineral development, the Fata secretariat would construct 63 kilometre-long roads in the Kurram, Orakzai, Mohmand, North and South Waziristan agencies to facilitate the mineral exploration.

He said another mineral development and exploration project would be opened soon in Mohmand agency.
