Doctor killed in Karachi

KARACHI, Aug 19: Assistant Medical Director Administration of Liaquat National Hospital was shot dead at Stadium Road late on Tuesday night.

Police said that Dr Shoaib Shafiq, 42, was on his way to the LNH after visiting a hospital in Dhorajee in his car (ACV-976).

Police said that when he reached near the Aga Khan University Hospital unknown persons riding on a motorcycle opened fire at him and escaped.

Dr Shafiq was rushed to the LNH where he was operated upon.

However, he succumbed to his wounds during the treatment, hospital sources said.

Police said that Dr Shafiq resided in Nazimabad.
