LAHORE: Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed has chided the treasury for bringing a resolution in the house in favour of a disqualified person.

Terming the resolution an insult to the Punjab Assembly, he said: “The resolution is not in favour of Nawaz Sharif but against the courts.”

Speaking to media persons outside the assembly, Mr Rasheed said Nawaz had been ousted from the Prime Minister’s office thrice due to his own misdeeds. He said those looted and plundered national wealth would eventually reach Adiala Jail.

The opposition leader said the whole nation was united in demanding accountability of Nawaz and his family members.

Meanwhile, PTI MPA Nabeela Hakim Ali submitted a resolution to the Punjab Assembly demanding the government to bear educational expenses of position holders in the province.

She stated that thousands of talented students could not continue higher education due to poverty and parents’ inability to meet high expenses of higher education. She stressed the government should meet such students’ educational expenses and offer special scholarships.
