Industrial output

BRUSSELS, Aug 19: The eurozone industrial sector remained in a sluggish mood in June, with production edging lower for the second straight month, the EU statistics office Eurostat said on Tuesday.

Industrial production in the 12-nation zone fell by 0.1 per cent in June, following a 0.9-per cent decrease in May.

Output fell in June by 1.6 per cent on an annual basis.

For the full 15-member European Union (the eurozone plus Britain, Denmark and Sweden), industrial production rose by 0.3 per cent in June from May, but dropped by 0.7 per cent compared to June 2002.—AFP
