LAHORE: With a view to capitalise on the cricket fever gripping the city because of the ongoing T20 contests participated by the World XI, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has installed big LED screens at its election offices in NA-120, where a by-poll is to be held on Sept 17.

The screens have been installed at the PTI election offices in all the 25 union councils falling in NA-120 constituency for showing live T20 matches between the World XI and team Pakistan on Sept 12, 13 and 15, says Ishtiaq Malik, one of the coordinators of the party candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid’s election campaign.

The party is led by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan.

The PTI election offices where the screens have been installed by the winners or ticket-holders for UC chairman/vice-chairman slots.

The PTI has also mobilised its councillors in the Lahore Metropolitan Corporation to campaign for Dr Rashid.

Overall around 35 PTI teams are going door to door to seek votes for her, besides collecting contact numbers of the voters in each household for digital canvassing.

The first round of the door-to-door campaign in the UCs has been completed and from today (Tuesday) the second round will begin from the Outfall Road, says Malik.

He claims that groups on the basis of each election camp have also been formed to mobilise the voters on the polling day, while training of polling agents is also under way.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Begum Mehnaz Rafi said Maryam Nawaz had been openly criticising the apex court during her mother’s campaign in NA-120, and urged the Supreme Court to take notice of this.
