Gastroenteritis hits Rohri

SUKKUR, Aug 18: Three people, including a woman, have died of gastroenteritis and more than 30 suffering from the disease have been hospitalized in different areas of the Rohri town.

The disease has spread in Loco Shed, New Yard, Bedil Baikas Colony and other areas due to the mixing of sewage with drinking water.

Waziran, wife of Dhani Bux Shaikh, Roshan Ali, 8, and Mohammad Saleh, 10, died during the last three days and 30 children and eight women were admitted to the Rohri Taluka Hospital, Sukkur Civil Hospital and other private hospitals.

Conditions of Mohammad Jan, Safia Khatoon, Baseer, Abdul Ghaffar and Naghma, who are admitted to the Sukkur Civil Hospital, are said to be serious.

WOMAN KILLED: A 70-year-old woman, Rasti, wife of Mohammad Sadiq Bozdar, was killed by three armed men in Jarwar on Monday evening.

The police have registered a case against three brothers, Mohammad Nawaz, Ali Nawaz and Shah Nawaz.

The cause of the killing could not be ascertained.

LOOTED: The house of a doctor was looted by three armed bandits here on Monday.

The bandits barged into the house of Dr Sajjad Hussain Rizvi, locked family mem-bers in a room and took away cash, ornaments and other valuables.

EXAMS: The date for accepting examination forms from candidates for the Secondary School Certificate Part II (Class X) supplementary examinations 2003 has been extended upto Aug 25 without late fee and upto Sept 4 with a late fee of Rs100.

This was announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Sukkur.
