HYDERABAD, Aug 18: The Sindh minister for information technology, Yaqoob Ilyas, said that it was a worship to take care of the mentally retarded people.

He said this while visiting the Sir Cowasjee Hospital on Sunday along with the consul general of Sri Lanka, P. D. Fernando.

He met with some patients and sought information about the working of the hospital.

He was given a briefing by the medical superintendent, Abdul Karim Noorani.

He said that the majority of the patients were those who had been abandoned by their relatives, and added that such patients were handed over to the Edhi Foundation after their medical treatment was completed.

Later, the minister also visited the St Elizabeth Hospital, Unit No7, Latifabad, and inspected its paediatric ward, X-ray room, OPD, laboratory and other departments.

He also visited the nursing hostel.

WATER BILLS: The Water and Sanitation Agency has announced on Monday that the last date for the payment of water bills has been extended upto Aug 23.

The consumers have been asked to pay their bills in the designated branches of ABL, HBL, and MCB without additional surcharge.

The recovery coordinator, Wasa, Shaukat Hayat Bhutto, has notified that a special package of 10 per cent rebate in the payment of water bills in one instalment has been further extended by a month.

SRC: The Sindh Regimental Centre, Hyderabad, has announced the results of selected candidates during the selection schedule from May to July 30.

The list of successful candidates has been displayed at the Hyderabad Railway Station.
