JHANG / SHEIKHUPURA: Two brothers and their cousin drowned while taking a bath in the river Chenab near Bahu Bridge on the second day of Eid (Sunday).

According to Rescue 1122 district emergency officer Ali Hasnain, Dr. Ali Naqi ( 27), his brother Muhammad Naqi (24) and cousin Rozina (19) along with other family members visited the Bahu Bridge near Shorkot Road for a picnic. They drowned while taking a bath in the river.

On an emergency call, Rescue 1122 recovered body of Dr Ali Naqi who was posted as medical officer at Jhang DHQ hospital. Bodies of the other two were yet to be recovered.

In Sheikhupura, two friends drowned when their speeding car fell into the Upper Chenab canal on Sunday.

Five friends – Abdullah (20), Usama (18), Nouman, Hamza (18) and Shahzad (16) – were enjoying a ride in a rented car along the canal road. The speeding vehicle fell into canal. Locals rescued Abdullah, Usama and Nouman while body of Hamza was recovered. A search was on for the recovery of Shahzad’s body.
