GILGIT, Aug 17: At least four people were killed and two others seriously injured on Saturday at about 11pm when a Chilas-bound jeep (GLT-1470) fell into a ravine in Thack-Niyatt, in Diamer district, 140km south of Gilgit, police sources told Dawn on Sunday.

They said the victims were identified as Abdullah, his wife, his four-year-old son and the driver. They succumbed to their injuries on way to the Chilas DHQ hospital.

Two passengers have been admitted to the Chilas hospital in critical condition.

The police said the incident took place as the driver attempted to negotiate a narrow band on the hilly Babusar Road at Niyatt.
