RAWALPINDI, Aug 17: General Richard B. Myers, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, US Armed Forces had a telephonic conversation with Vice Chief of Army Staff General Mohammad Yusaf Khan on Saturday night and expressed his regrets over the incident of Aug 11 when two Pakistan soldiers died due to firing of US forces at Pakistan-Afghan border in North Waziristan Agency.

General Myers said that US attached great significance to its relations with Pakistan as an important ally in the global fight against terrorism.

He assured Vice Chief of Army Staff that all measures would be initiated to ensure that such mistakes were not repeated.

General Yusaf expressed the hope that necessary steps would be taken immediately to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.—APP
