KHAIRPUR, Aug 17: A Jirga held at the guest house of Pir Pagaro in Pir Jo Goth on Sunday resolved a dispute between Narejo and Jagirani tribes
The Jirga imposed a fine of Rs4.8 million on Jagirani and Narejo tribes for murders of 16 tribesmen and injuries to 20 others.
The Jagirani tribe did not accept responsibility for the murder of Akbar Narejo, who was killed in the jurisdiction of the Faiz Mohammad Bindo police station.
Following the announcement of the verdict by Sardar Sundar Khan Sundrani, who acted as Sarpanch (head of Jirga), Hafiz Asadullah Mahar said 11 Jagiranis and five Narejos were killed in the clashes and that Rs300,000 would be paid for each of the murder.
Thus, a fine of Rs1.5 million was imposed on the Jagirani tribe and Rs3.3 million on the Narejo tribe. The Narejos would have to pay Rs1.8 million, the difference of fine amount. It was also decided that Rs25,000 would be paid for each injured.
It was also decided that Rs75,000 would be paid to Ghulam Shabbir Jagirani and Rs50,000 to Jan Mohammad Jagirani whereas a fine of Rs300,000 was imposed on the Jagirani tribe for detaining two women of the Narejo tribe, which was the root cause of the confrontation.
The Jirga further decided that the tribe that violated the Jirga verdict would have to pay a fine of Rs1 million.
The tribes decided to withdraw cases pending against each other.
It was agreed that under-investigation cases would be decided as per law.
Sardar Ahmad Ali Pitafi represented the Jagirani tribe and Sardar Shahnawaz Junejo and Sardar Himmat Ali Kamario appeared on behalf of the Narejo tribe.
The police were deployed on roads leading to Pir Jo Goth and police mobiles also patrolled on outskirts of the town to ensure security. DPO Rana Fateh Sher monitored the security arrangements.
