HYDERABAD, Aug 16: Cracks have appeared in the leadership of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz as a result its four office-bearers have resigned from their posts in protest against the policies of JSQM chief Bashir Qureshi.

Sources in the party told this correspondent that JSQM senior vice-chairman Shafi Mohammad Karnani, vice- chairman Shabbir Jamali, deputy general secretary Mohammad Rahimoon and treasurer Akbar Soomro had resigned from their posts.

The in charge of the party media cell, Zulfiqar, reluctantly confirmed the news but hastened to add that the office-bearers had tendered their resignations from their posts but had not left the party.

Mr Karnani, when contacted by telephone, confirmed that they had resigned from their posts and added that a press release regarding the resignations would soon be issued.

He said that the decision to resign was taken at a meeting of the senior workers of the party held at his Thatta residence on Friday.

Referring to the reason for the resignations, he alleged that Mr Qureshi had deviated from the JSQM policies, created groupings in the party, was patronizing criminals and extortionist elements in the party and behaving like a dictator towards the workers.

Mr Karnani said the resignations of himself, Mr Jamali, Mr Rahimoon and Mr Soomro had been sent to the JSQM chairman and general secretary, Abdul Wahid Areesar.
