THE Water and Power Development Authority pays its retirees pensions every month with a heavy heart. It pays salaries to its serving staff on time, but usually pays its pensioners in the third or fourth week of the month. Most pensioners do not have any other source of income. They wait for the payment of pension. Late payment every month reduces their financial position to a precarious condition.
Wapda which has a much smaller number of staff and pensioners may also follow the same system as is being used by multi-nationals. It can help accounts department. However, some homework is required to be done by both accounts and computer staff.
