NAWABSHAH, Aug 16: A team of journalists visited the paediatrics ward of Peoples Medical College Hospital and found 100 patients, half of them infected with gastroenteritis, adjusted on 65 beds.
There was only one paediatrician for the ward. No doctor was deputed even after the outbreak of gastroenteritis.
The children ward was giving a filthy look. Water was standing on stairs and floors and it was nearly impossible to stay there due to stinking smell.
The attendants told their children were not given proper treatment.
They said the doctor of paediatric ward had a private medical centre and his agents were forcing them to admit their children in the private centre for better treatment.
The people have demanded of the authorities to look into the matter and solve their problems.
Meanwhile, two children died here on Thursday due to gastroenteritis which had spread in the district after rains.
Nuzhat, 8, and Amanullah, 11, were admitted into the paediatrics ward the Peoples Medical College Hospital.
The health department has completely failed to control the spread of killer disease.
