DERA GHAZI KHAN: An elite force constable was left critically injured on Tuesday allegedly when armed bandits attacked Pat Umrani police picket in the riverine area of Rojhan Mazari tehsil of Rajanpur district.

Police high-ups denied the incident.

According to sources, some armed bandits belonging to Ataullah Pat gang opened fire at Pat Umrani picket. The elite force men manning the picket retaliated the fire.

However, an elite force Constable, Sikandar, was hit by the bullets fired by the attackers and got critically injured, the sources said.

The bandits fled the scene after the attack that occurred a day after the release of seven policemen who were kidnapped by Pat gang.

The injured constable was rushed to a health facility at Rojhan tehsil from where he was referred to Rajanpur District Headquarters Hospital.

According to sources, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zafar Buzdar looking into the matter.

However, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rehmat Ullah Niazi denied that the constable was injured in an attack, claiming he was hit by a stray bullet.
