KARACHI: A suspected bandit was killed while his alleged accomplice was arrested in injured condition by police in Paposh Nagar on Tuesday, a police official said.

He said that their police van was on routine patrol when some residents of the area approached them and informed them about presence of some armed bandits in Block 5-C who were snatching cash and other valuables from passers-by.

“Our police team rushed to the site and spotted two robbers. When they saw us, they fired shots at us and tried to speed away on their motorbike. We chased them and finally trapped them in a narrow lane. After brief exchange of fire, one of the suspects died on the spot while the other was arrested with bullet wounds. We recovered two pistols and a motorbike from their possession,” the official further said.

He added that the body of the deceased was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities while the injured suspect was being treated there.

“Both of the suspects are still unidentified. We are waiting to record the injured person’s statement after getting clearance from doctors,” the police official concluded.
