KARACHI: A team of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) sealed an unregistered ghee and oil factory in Korangi Industrial Area and seized its substandard products during a raid on Tuesday.

The PSQCA officials conducted the raid on M/s Chamba International Oil Mills where they found unlicensed and substandard ghee/cooking oil products, namely Chand Sooraj Banaspati, Dara-i-Khaiber Banaspati, GoGo Banaspati, Sher-i-Punjab Banaspati, Chamba Banaspati, and GoGo Cooking Oil, seized the products and sealed the factory.

Without having a licence from the PSQCA, the factory used Pakistan Standards mark on the packaging of ghee and cooking oil, says a statement.

The PSQCA advised the manufacturers to get their manufacturing establishments registered with the authority and get their products tested from the PSQCA after which they should print the PSQCA mark on their products so that the consumers knew they were purchasing quality products.

Action against manufacturers producing substandard products would be taken as per Sections 14 and 22 of the PSQCA Act, adds the statement.
