Airport delayed

Published August 20, 2017

THE new airport at Islamabad, situated on Fateh Jang Road, was supposed to open on Aug 14. However, it has been delayed once again. Reason: the road connecting Kashmir Highway to the airport is not complete, though infrastructure at the site is almost ready. However, over the last 15 years the cost of the new airport has jumped from an initial Rs35m to Rs81m now. Any delay is likely to increase its cost further.

The government should complete this project at the earliest to prevent further loss of the public exchequer. Also, this airport must be named after Abdul Sattar Edhi.
