73 Palestinians set free

AL QUDS, Aug 15: Israel freed on Friday 73 Palestinian prisoners, in a goodwill gesture to the Palestinian Authority, Israeli media reported.

The prisoners, who included one woman, were taken by buses from their jails to four checkpoints in the West Bank and one in the Gaza Strip.

Israel recently released 334 Palestinians jailed for security offences against the Jewish state. Palestinians have said the number released so far is inadequate and are demanding Israel free all held Palestinians.—dpa
