KARACHI: Over 200 boys and girls competed in different disciplines during the two-day 70th Independence Day sports festival held under the aegis of the Olympian Iftikhar Syed Sports Academy (OISSA) at its premises.

The festival was organised in hockey, futsal, basketball, staking, gymnastics and taekwondo.

Moid Anwar, chairman of the District Municipal Corporation, East, who graced the closing ceremony, gave away the prizes.

Speaking on the occasion, Moid lauded the academy’s role in promoting healthy activities.

Besides, former Olympian Iftikhar Syed, the ceremony was attended among others by Abdul Rauf, Syed Farhan Ali, Choudhary Shabbir, Fayyaz-ul-Huda, Syed Javed Ali, Zulfiqar Hussain, Anees Khan, Shahid Mehtab, Rashid Ail, Nadeem Qureshi, Muneer Qidwai, Asim Mumtaz and Tipu Sultan.
