KARACHI: Fancied Bounce Club survived a scare against One Unit Club while Arambagh Club kept their winning run intact in the Independence Day basketball tournament at the latter’s floodlit court on Monday evening.

Having won group A opener against Karachi Colts, Bounce Club overcome One Unit Club 54-44 to stay unbeaten.

The winners completely dominated the first two quarters and led 31-13 at half time.

On resumption, the youthful One Unit Club fought with vigour and surprised the spectators by winning the third quarter 24-7 to reduce the deficit and trail 37-38.

The fourth and last quarter saw the best moment for One Unit Club when they drew level at 42-all but succumbed to pressure.

In the absence of some players, Mubashir led the team from the front and finished with 28 points. He was assisted by Hamza and Shahmeer who scored eight points apiece.

Tashfeen and Kashif finished in double figures with 15 and 10 and followed by Talal eight.

Earlier, the trio of Raj (14), Daniyal (11) and Zain-ul-Abedin (10) guided Arambagh Club to an exciting 48-41 victory over Malir Trojans. The winners led 20-18 at half time.

Imran and Ali Raza scored 12 and eight points respectively for the losers.
