A petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against Nawaz Sharif over his allegedly anti-judiciary speeches during his 'homecoming' rally was filed in the Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court on Saturday.

The petition, filed by a citizen, Mehmood Akhtar, has challenged Sharif's speeches during his rally. The court has yet to decide if it will be heard.

Sharif is constantly speaking against the judiciary during the rally and criticising its decision in the Panamagate case, the petition states.

Sharif's acts are liable for prosecution under Article 204 of the Constitution, the petition argues.

The petitioner has also sought a ban on the airing or publishing of Sharif's speeches and a case for the death of the child — who was killed in Lalamusa by cars in Sharif's motorcade —to be registered against him.
