WASHINGTON: Pakistan partners with the United States in the fight against terrorism because it believes that whenever the two countries have worked together, it has benefited both, says the country’s ambassador, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary.

Addressing a group of 96 students from Pakistan at the embassy on Wednesday, Ambassador Chaudhary also said that the relationship with the US was “one of the most important bilateral relationships for us”.

The students arrived in Washington on Tuesday, through the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme for Pakistan. Launched in 2010, the programme is managed by the US Department.

“The people of Pakistan and America share a fundamental desire for stability, peace and regional and global economic development,” said the ambassador, who is engaged in a difficult task of promoting Pakistan and its interests in a very hostile environment.
