ISLAMABAD, Aug 13: As many as 52 clubs are to take part in the Islamabad Cricket Association President Cup that starts from Aug 24.
In this regard, the ICA Executive Committee, headed by President Ishaq Bhatti has constituted a tournament committee comprising Syed Ibrar Rizvi (chairman), Nasir Iqbal and Ajmal Sabir.
The tournament will be contested on a knockout basis with matches being limited to 50-overs-a-side.
The draws for the tournament will be finalised on August 20 and the inaugural match will be played at the Marghazar Cricket Ground.
The ICA executive committee also decided to hold at least three tournaments in the remaining part of the year.
The meeting also hailed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Lt. Gen Tauqir Zia’s decision to withdraw arbitration in the ICA affairs besides appointing Ibrar Rizvi as member from Islamabad in the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA).
A development plan for cricket grounds was also finalised which is to be handed over to the chairman of the CDA shortly.
“Two new grounds will be established in the federal capital while six existing ones will be upgraded by CDA with pavilions being constructed at these grounds by PCB in phases,” Ishaq Bhatti said.
In another decision, the ICA decided to expand its executive committee by inducting at least three persons in various capacities.
