KOHAT: Lachi tehsil council here has unanimously passed Rs170 million budget for the fiscal year 2017-18.

The session was presided over by naib nazim Nazir Mehmood and attended by nazim Ashfaq Qureshi, councillors and tehsil municipal officer Imtiaz Paracha.

The nazim presented a projected revenue budget of Rs110 million whereas the house sanctioned funds for a mechanical shovel and tractor trolley.

Opposition leader Naseem Gul said that they would cooperate with the government for better functioning of TMA.

He said that Rs10 million were outstanding against the people on account of water charges which would be recovered.

Mr Qureshi sought cooperation of the opposition for completing development projects.

PLEA DISMISSED: The Election Commission of Pakistan has dismissed an application against five district councillors of JUI-F for voting against their party candidate in the recent election for district nazim.

Talking to this scribe on phone on Sunday, a local JUI-F leader Gohar Saifullah recalled that an agreement on oath was signed between PTI and JUI-F for replacing the latter’s district nazim, but later the JUI-F district leadership backed out from the agreement.

During polls on division basis the five councillors of JUI-F had voted for PTI candidate. Later, the JUI-F filed an application with the ECP against the five councillors. The commission listened to the appeals of both sides and dismissed the petition against councillors Iqbal Khan, Momin Shah, Ashfaq Bangash, Shahid Mehmood and Begum Ilmas Bangash.

SANITATION: The water supply and sanitation company (WSSC) has received hundreds of dustbin containers and handcarts for collecting and dumping garbage.

WSSC chief sanitary officer Sohail said that seven tractors had also been received which would help in removal of wastes from the city. He said the bins would be placed at different sites of the city before Eidul Azha. He claimed that during last six months over 31,200 tons of garbage had been removed.

He said that following public complaints about rainwater inundating residential areas the drains were being widened in various parts of the city for smooth flow of water.
