MINGORA: Various functions were held in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to pay tributes to personnel of law enforcement agencies, who were killed in line of duty.

A function was organised in Fizagat area in Swat to mark police martyrs day wherein families of the fallen policemen were invited. DIG Akhtar Hayat presided over the function that was attended by DPO Mohammad Ijaz Khan, district nazim Mohammad Ali Shah, all the DSPs and local elders.

“Swat police stood like rock against all kinds of evils, terrorists and anti-state elements and defeated them. The police martyrs sacrificed their lives for our peaceful future,” said DIG Akhtar Hayat on the occasion.

The relatives of the killed policemen said that they were proud of their fathers, brothers and uncles for sacrificing their lives for the land.

“I am proud of my uncle and grandfather, who laid their lives for the land and not only the state but also general public remembered them with respect,” said Sabila, a 10th grader.

In Battagram, a rally was held in the district headquarters to pay tributes police martyrs.

The participants of the rally marched from police lines to Kutcheri Chowk. DPO Syed Rasool Shah, MPA Nawabzada Wali Mohammad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Sardar Asad Haroon, district nazim Attaur Rehman Khan, tehsil nazim Niaz Mohammad Khan, DSP Tahir Iqbal, traders’ leader Abdul Ghaffar Deshani and families of the killed policemen took part in the rally.

In Shangla, police personnel and common people donated blood to mark the day.

DPO Rahatullah Khan said that the blood would be provided to needy patients. He said Shangla police rendered sacrifices for restoration of peace.

In Nowshera, leaders of political parties and local elders paid visits to the camps, set up by police, to mark police martyrs day.

Police set up three camps in Nowshera Cantonment, Pabbi and Jehangira. The leaders of PPP, ANP, PTI, JI and JUI paid visits to the camps and wrote their comments in the book to pay tributes to police martyrs.
