GHALANAI: Unknown miscreants gunned down three members of a family, including a woman, in Haleemzai tehsil of Mohmand Agency on the night between Thursday and Friday.

Local residents and political administration officials told Dawn that unknown miscreants entered the house of one Sadiq Khan in Shanikhel village at midnight and asked both Sadiq and his son, Yaseen Khan, to go with them. However, they were shot dead when they refused. Sadiq’s wife was also shot dead when she cried for help to save his son.

Local residents said that motive behind the murder was yet to be known. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

After the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation. During the operation, all the local bazaars, including Ekkaghund, Ghalanai, Mian Mandi and Lakaro were closed due to security reasons. The main Peshawar-Bajaur road was also blocked for five hours.
