HYDERABAD: A representative of the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, has filed a statement before a division bench of the Sindh High Court Hyderabad circuit, denying that the Rangers had picked up two sons of a petitioner woman (who is an activist of MQM-London’s women wing).

Ms Shazia, a resident of Latifabad, had filed a constitutional petition, citing Hyderabad range police DIG, Hyderabad police senior superintendent, director and sector commander of the Rangers, in-charge of the CIA centre Hyderabad and the SHO of B-section police station Latifabad as respondents.

She said that on June 22, her elder son Mohammad Umer called his younger brother Saad on his mobile phone, disclosing that he had an accident in Latifabad Unit-10.

Her counsel Shakeel Zai, however, appeared before the division bench, comprising Justice Khadim Hussain M. Shaikh and Justice Khadim Hussain Tunio today (Wednesday) and said that one of the two sons, Umer, had reached home, but the other son, Saad was still missing.

He prayed the court to direct respondents to make efforts for the recovery of petitioner’s son.

The Rangers’ deputy superintendent submitted a statement in the court on behalf of the director of the Rangers and sector commander on Wednesday through assistant attorney general, stating that necessary check was carried out which revealed that the sons of the petitioner had neither been arrested nor held by any outfit of the Pakistan Ranger Sindh.

He denied allegations levelled in the petition against the Rangers.
