KARACHI: To lay the foundation stone for the expansion of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Law (Szabul) on Tuesday, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh was in attendance where he spoke about the important role educational institutions played in the development and progress of the country’s youth.

“Education in this day and age is very important for our children. It is essential that institutions such as Szabul are set up so that a larger cross-section of society can access high-quality education,” he said.

The chief justice also spoke about how the lack of finances discouraged parents from sending their children to school and college. As a result, they were deprived of a good education.

“This is where institutions like Szabul step in. It is providing high-quality, yet affordable education to students, and I’m very pleased to see that students from the interior of Sindh are also getting admission here.”

The ceremony marked the construction of additional facilities on Szabul’s campus which included classrooms and an auditorium hall. These are part of measures aimed at providing better quality education to the institute’s current and prospective students.

Founding Vice Chancellor of Szabul former justice Qazi Khalid Ali congratulated the faculty, non-teaching staff as well as students that are part of the institution on the progress of the institute.

“Classes at Szabul commenced in Sept 2015 and we offer LLB, LLM and PhD programmes. The existing building was 30,000 sq ft but it was insufficient for further facilities. Therefore, CM Murad Ali Shah decided to help increase the scale of the project.”

The estimated cost of the expansion project, he said, was “Rs94 million and the estimated time of completion of the project is a year and a half.”
