A Rawalpindi court on Tuesday summoned Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in a defamation case filed against him by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi.
In his petition, heard by Additional Sessions Judge Gulzar Ahmed, Abbasi demanded that the AML leader pay him Rs10 billion as compensation for defaming him on TV and in public gatherings.
According to Abbasi, the AML chief had made drug peddling allegations against him during multiple media talks.
"Rashid made allegations that I procured 10,000 tonnes of heroin and that a court was currently hearing a case about such [drug-related] activities," said Abbasi.
After hearing the petition, Justice Ahmed summoned the AML chief, asking him to appear before the court on August 3, 2017.

@Arafat
It was bound to happen because, unfortunately, Pakistani Public has chosen to follow media more than prudent political analysis as a vehicle to secure its interest

This is interesting and how it will progress during the next few weeks! As government's propaganda machinery will be supporting Hanif Abbasi and his allegations. NA is NOT an angle, I would be very interested to know, how he made his properties and assets, as he was an average man in Rawalpindi, a few years ago. Hanif Abassi, if you have courage then provide record of your growth, source of money earned and tax paid, etc.

@Anti-Corruption_Pakistani agreed we should ask this question to Abbasi but what about Sh Rashid. From a very humble background to farm house etc. we should also ask Sh Rashid to make his tax record and assests public

I am flabbergasted to know Sh. Rashid accuses hanif Abbasi of having procured 10,000 tonnes of heroin and that a court was currently hearing a case about such activities. From a little search online, it was discovered that almost 95 % of world production of heroin originates from Afghanistan and over 70% of it transits through Pakistan. It is on average, 290 tones of heroin a year, that passes through illegal means.
