Rishi Kapoor wants a redo of Ganguly's shirtless celebration and here's why Twitter isn't having it

Rishi tweeted this during the Women's Cricket World Cup final and many think the tweet was ill-timed

Rishi Kapoor and cricket just don't seem to go hand in hand.

The actor's tweet last night caused yet another uproar on Twitter. Rishi tweeted a picture of Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly shirtless after India won the NatWest Final in 2002 and wrote:

"Waiting for a repeat of Sourav Ganguly's act on the balcony of The Lords Ground,London, when India beat England 2002 NatWest series final! YO," he said.

Here's why Twitter went into fury after his tweet: India vs England Women's Cricket World Cup Final took place yesterday at Lord's, London and though Rishi didn't say anything forthright, Twitter took his words as suggestive of wanting the women's team to repeat the same if they win.

And fans were not happy.

The Kapoor & Sons actor of course was quick to respond.

But Twitter was not having it.

I do not understand what he is trying to say !! I mean women should act like Ganguly after wining? its just disrespectful for women... Seems he does not think before he tweets... In any circumstances this tweet is just disgusting.

Rishi Kapoor is no different from our and any 70 year old. They crave attention. Unlike those who grew up using computer and social media he just doesnt know how to act ';cool' on social media. No big deal though

@sikander shallwani I think What he meant was "Celebrate in Limits". If we check History We Both Pakistanis and Indians Celebrate less and Annoy and degrade the Losing Party More. I remember When Pakistani Hockey Team celebrated with removing their shirts in India Two years back it created a hue and cry. But Ganguli Did the same in England. We all should celebrate with Responsibility Because we can lose too Sometimes and then it would be a bit embarrassing you know. .

Ganguly did it cos Flintoff did it in a series before in India. Ganguly did it cos India were all but out at 130-5 but Kaif and Yuvraaj had other ideas. It was an iconic moment
