PARACHINAR: General Officer Commanding (GOC) Maj-Gen Hassan Hayat has said all available resources would be utilised for establishment of durable peace in Kurram Agency.

During his visit to various areas and villages in Central Kurram on Sunday, he asked the political administration to resolve the issues facing the tribesmen.

He announced establishment of a civil-military executive committee to monitor progress of all the planned projects in the area.

Speaking at a jirga in Doger area, he directed renovation of four schools (boys and girls) and construction of a playground. He distributed cheques among the displaced families.

Mr Hayat also visited the polytechnic institute and asked for provision of qualified staff and lab equipment there.

He expressed resentment over dilapidated condition of the infrastructure, and directed the authorities to take immediate steps to improve overall quality of life of the tribesmen. He also directed the local administration to take all necessary measures for restoration of the area’s basic health unit. He distributed sports kits among youths.
