QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri has issued orders to commissioners across the province to trace out ghost employees in schools, hospitals, education, communication and other departments and take strict action against them.
While presiding over a meeting, he directed all six divisions to launch a crackdown on ghost employees. The government, he said, had released Rs10 billion for development projects and implementation should be visible on ground and not just on paper.
He directed officials to act on a war footing to provide modern civic services and amenities to the residents of Sariab area of the city.
He asked the authorities concerned to submit within 10 days a survey report about principal components of all projects.
He said Sariab road was one of the entry points and should leave upon people coming to the city a positive impression of the provincial capital, adding that separate parks for women and children should be established along the road and development projects should be implemented without delay.
The chief minister said that schemes for building flyovers, underpasses and an efficient sewerage system in all parts of Quetta and a food street along the railway line should be prepared.
He was briefed on uplift schemes, including the flyover at Nawa Killi, Baleli and development of Sabzal and Sariab roads and Quetta Expressway.
Mr Zehri also called for the widening of Sariab Road and Airport Road.
The chief minister said he would not tolerate any laxity in implementing the development package for the provincial capital.
The meeting was attended, among others, by ACS Development Umer Babar; Iqbal Khosa, senior member, Board of Revenue; Finance Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani; secretary of communication and works department, the commissioner of Quetta division and divisional superintendent of railways.
