KHAR: Rain and flood-affected people of Warh Mamond tehsil on Friday demanded immediate rehabilitation of the damaged infrastructure in the region. They made the demand while speaking to a team of officials of the political administration led by Nawagai assistant political agent Anwarul Haq during a visit to the affected tehsil. MNA Haji Bismillah Khan was also present.

The officials were informed that hilly and mountainous areas like Kaga, Bandari, Sapari, Banda, Kalpani and Mukha had suffered extensive damage in the July 12 rain and ensuing flashfloods.

The elders said over 150 houses and 20 shops had been either destroyed or damaged, adding the floods also washed away standing crops of maize and vegetables on thousands of acres of land. They added that a number of link roads, electricity and water supply infrastructure, and a main bridge connecting the region with the main Mamond-Inayat Kallay highway had also been damaged.

The elders said the people had been stranded in their villages ever since the rains occurred due to damage to roads and the bridge. They urged the officials to realise their suffering and ensure early launch of rehabilitation process.
