LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday sought replies from the Ministry of Interior and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on a petition of cricketer Shahzeb Hassan, facing spot-fixing charges, seeking removal of his name from the exit control list (ECL).

The counsel representing Shahzeb contended that nobody could be declared guilty unless tried in a transparent manner. He said while proceedings on the spot-fixing charges were still pending against his client before the tribunal, the Ministry of Interior at the behest of the PCB has placed his name on the ECL.

The lawyer argued that the act of the ministry was a clear violation of fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution. He asked the court to order the Interior Ministry to remove the name of the petitioner (Shahzeb) from the ECL as he wanted to visit his family in the UK.

The court heard the arguments and sought replies from the PCB and the interior ministry by July 26.
