The week that was

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua | Hum TV, Sunday 8pm

A totally different storyline that begins with a divorce where Maya (Ayeza Khan) walks out of her perfect marriage with Faris (Sami Khan) for no other reason than a change of heart, and then runs to Zahid Ahmed who plays a charismatic baddie. The screenplay of Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua (TDKKH) by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, slick direction by Shahid Shafaat and perfect casting that includes Usman Peerzada, Farah Shah, Mansha Pasha and Rehan Sheikh promises to be a winner. A perfectly-styled Ayeza eases into the role of this unconventional woman, notably different from her previous work. Is it a wonder this serial is stealing TRPs from the Sunday night game show slot?

Teri Raza | ARY Digital, Tuesday 8pm

Being Sanam Baloch’s comeback serial opposite Sarmad Khoosat and Shehroze Sabzwari, the much-hyped Teri Raza had a tepid start. Yet another arranged marriage leaving broken hearts behind. Knowing Sanam’s acting skills, however, there is perhaps something substantial ahead. However, Baloch badly needs a fresh look for the young, bubbly character she plays.

What to watch out for

Eidi Sab Ke Liye | ARY Zindagi, Saturday 10pm-12am

While ARY digital’s Jeeto Pakistan contends with Geo TV’s Geo Khelo Pakistan [also highlighting that there is no lack of alternate careers in showbiz for retired cricketers] for TRPs, hats off to Fizza Ali for being the one and only female anchor gallivanting and cavorting in her stilettos around a big snazzy studio and a live audience on Saturday nights for ARY Zindagi’s Eidi Sab Ke Liye. Confident, audience-savvy and styled to perfection, she makes a way prettier host than all the male anchors put together.
