HONG KONG: China charged today [July 19] Indian aircraft made 16 violations of her air space in the regions of Sinkiang and Tibet from July 12 to 17.

A protest Note delivered to the Indian Em­­bassy in Peking warned the Indian Government that Chinese territory and air space were sacred. If the Indians persisted in carrying out serious provocations they would be dealt a “death blow” by the Chinese people and frontier guards, the Note, quoted by Radio Peking, said.

The Note pointed out that since the beginning of this year Indian troops have been carrying out “provocative activities” along the common border.

The present violation of China’s airspace was not accidental, but rather a deliberate attempt by the Indians to increase tension on the border. This is another anti-China incident after the beating up of Chinese diplomats in India, the Note added.

The Note charged that the Indian Government, tailing after the United States and the Soviet Union, was bent on creating anti-China incidents.

It warned: “The more the Indian Government opposes China, the sooner it will accelerate its doom.”

New Delhi must immediately stop its military provocation against China or it would have to take the responsibility for all the consequences arising, the Note said.

[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies in Jakarta,] Indonesia’s Attorney-General Major-General Sugiharto today [July 19] announced that the Government had foiled a pro-Sukarno plot.

He told newsmen that a number of military officers and civilians involved in the plot had been arrested. He refused to give details of the number arrested.

Gen Sugiharto said that the movement, which hoped to restore “the old order” to power, was planning to create countrywide disturbances towards the end of this month.
