DADU: After registering an FIR of the murder of Shabnam Shaikh against them, the Dadu town police arrested her father-in-law and carried out raids to arrest her husband.

Ms Shaikh was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her home at Purani Sabzi Mandi here by husband Mudassir Shaikh some seven days back.

On a complaint of her father, retired Captain Dr Sharafuddin Baloch, the Dadu town police registered an FIR of murder against Mudassir Shaikh (husband) and Noor Ahmed Shaikh (father-in-law). Police arrested Noor Ahmed Shaikh and carried out raids to arrest Mudassir.

Aftab Ahmed Baloch, brother of the victim, alleged at a press conference on Wednesday that after killing Ms Shaikh, her body was hung from a ceiling fan to paint the killing as a suicide. He and other relatives demanded an impartial inquiry through an “honest officer of the police department” into the death.

The brother of the deceased said that Mudassir used to torture his sister repeatedly after marriage on different pretexts and she often complained of it to her relatives.
