KARACHI, Aug 7: India is well ahead of Pakistan in the Zonal Bridge Championship, which is underway at Amman, Jordan, according to the details made available on Thursday.

Pakistan and India are well clear from the rest of the field with their proven superior game. In the open event, India is convincingly leading over Pakistan with 230 Victory Points. Pakistan with 192 victory points is almost ahead of their nearest rival Syria with 160 V.P.

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka 20-10, in the 8th round and later Bangladesh 19-11, Syria 19-11 and Jordan 21-9. Pakistan were to face India later on Thursday. India had beaten Pakistan in the first round robin.

Pakistan team comprises World Master Jane Alam Fazli, Rehman Allana, Sultan Siddiqui, Rashid Jaffer, Sarfraz Ahmed and Tehseen Gheewala. Sunit Chosky, Venky, Subash and Rajeshwar are representing India Team.

However, India seems to be in great form as they defeated Sri Lanka second time with maximum 25 V.C, Syria 21-9 but Bangladesh gave them tough time losing very narrowly 14-16 V.P.

Both India and Pakista are in safe position leading the bunch of five contestants from Jordan, Palestine and Sri Lanka.

Indian ladies team had amassed 200 V.P just a point ahead of Pakistan 199 V.P. Jordanians had a total score of 186, and they are in a position to turn the table with slight luck and an improved performance.

Rehana Saigol, Samia Rashid, Qudsia Dosa, Zeenat Azwer, Rubina Aga and Roshan Bukhari are playing for Pakistan.

Pakistan senior team comprising Rashid-ul Ghazi, Pervez Mirza, Tariq Rashid Khan, Hasan Javed and Abdul Khaliq have a total score 129 V.P well ahead of their nearest rivals Jordan-1 with 92 V.P.—PPI
