LAHORE, Aug 7: The inter-region Under-19 tournament, first of its kind, will be played across the country from Aug 17 to Sept 19, the District Cricket Monitoring Committee (DCMC) announced on Thursday.

According to the schedule, on the first day of every match, a one-day match will be played that will be followed up by a three-dayer between the same teams.

The nine regions-Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Quetta will take part in the competition. The regional teams will be formed by the respective provincial associations on the basis of the inter- district competition that was played between July 11 and Aug 2.

The teams have been divided into two pools.

Pool “A” comprise Quetta, Multan, Sialkot, Karachi and Hyderabad while Pool “B” is Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Faisalabad.

The top team from each pool will qualify for the finals of the one-day and three-day competitions whose venue and match officials will be announced, later.

Schedule:

Aug 17-20: Quetta v Multan, Multan Stadium; Karachi vs Sialkot, Quaid-i-Azam Park; Peshawar v Rawalpindi, KRL Stadium; Faisalabad vs Lahore, Iqbal Stadium.

Aug 23-26: Quetta v Sialkot, Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot; Hyderabad v Karachi, Quaid-i-Azam Park; Rawalpindi v Faisalabad, KRL Stadium; Lahore v Peshawar, LCCA Ground.

Aug 29 to Sept 1: Quetta v Hyderabad, Niaz Stadium; Multan v Sialkot, Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot; Rawalpindi v Lahore, LCCA Ground; Faisalabad v Peshawar, Jawad Sports, Faisalabad.

Sept 4-7: Karachi v Quetta, Quaid-i-Azam Park; Multan  v Hyderabad, Niaz Stadium.

Sept 10-13: Karachi v Multan, Quaid-i-Azam Park; Sialkot v Hyderabad, Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot.

Sept 16-19: Finals.
