SAHIWAL: A four-year-old child died while his father was injured when roof of their house caved in at Jahaz Ground on Friday.

Gul Nawaz, a labourer in fruit market, was sleeping in his house room along his son, Usama (4) and two months old daughter, Shamsa, when the roof collapsed. Rescue 1122 said Usama died instantly and Nawaz was injured while Shamsa escaped without any injury. The injured was shifted to DHQ Hospital.

TAX: The local office of Excise and Taxation department has deposited in national exchequer Rs260m it recovered from tax evaders during 2016-17.

Sources said Rs100m of the deposited amount were collected under the property tax while Rs126m under vehicle taxes.

District excise and taxation officer Sarfaraz Tariq said they sealed houses in case owners failed to deposit the property tax.
