UMERKOT: A couple and their two children were buried under a pile of mud while digging a ditch in Mandhal village near Umerkot on Friday. Villagers rushed to the spot and retrieved them but the head of the family lost his life.

Reports from the area said that Dileep Oad, 30, and his wife, Halima Oad, 29, along with their two sons, Tulcho, 5, and Bharat, 8, were digging a ditch to collect mud for the construction of their house when a pile of mud slid and fell over them.

They remained buried under the mud until some residents of the village came to their rescue.

They retrieved the victims and brought them to the nearby hospital, where Dileep was declared dead on arrival. The condition of other three victims was stated to be stable.
