ISLAMABAD, Aug 7: The Chief Election Commissioner on Thursday appointed district returning officers, returning officers and presiding officers for conducting by-elections of district Nazim and Naib district Nazims in Punjab and the NWFP on Sept 8, 2003.

There are seven vacancies of Naib Nazims vacant in Attock, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Sialkot, Pakpattan and Layyah districts in Punjab while nine vacancies of tehsil Nazims. In the NWFP, one post of Zila Nazim is vacant in Swat district and two post of naib Zila Nazims are vacant in Swat and Charsada districts.

Three seats of tehsil nazims, and two seats of naib tehsil nazim are vacant.—Staff Reporter
