WASHINGTON, Aug 6: The United States has again enlisted Britain’s help to assist it in Iraq where US forces are facing almost daily attacks by Iraqis.

The Bush administration expects Britain to soon move a new resolution in the UN Security Council, asking for its support for a multinational peacekeeping force to be deployed in Iraq.

Most of the countries asked to provide troops, including Pakistan, have demanded UN endorsement before they agree to the US request.

Pakistan is also willing to send its troops if other international bodies, such as the OIC, the Arab League or the GCC, endorse the move. But so far the US has not succeeded in getting a favourable response from these organizations.

Washington has now convinced London to move a joint resolution in the Security Council for creating a multinational peacekeeping force in Iraq, as it did during the UN debate on Iraq before the war.
