KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) formerly Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) continues to flout its rules after changing nomenclature of the game’s controlling body five years back.

“The extraordinary general body meeting of the PBSA held at the Beach Luxary hotel on Dec 12, 2012, with its life chairman Asghar Valika in the chair, unanimously gave its consent to rename the body as PBSF as per the national and international requirements.

Another amendment extending the term of office-bearers from two to four years in line with the national sports policy was, however, implemented forthwith.

Following the decision, Dawn has been mentioning PBSF in all reports. However, it’s amazing that despite getting the general body nod, the office-bearers are not abiding the rules framed by them and continue to use PBSA in all their correspondence and on banners that are displayed at press conferences.

It is pertinent to mention that Dawn has drawn the attention of game’s hierarchy earlier but in vain.

It’s also surprising that none of the office-bearers have come forward and clarified the position since then.

“Yes, it’s a delay on the part of the game’s controlling body which is registered under Societies Act and needs a certificate from its registrar,” the PBSF president Munawwar Hussain Shaikh admitted while responding to the Dawn queries on the delay in implementing the decision.

“We’ve finally completed the requirements and filing the case with the societies registrar within a month to get their nod,” he added.

The official said that vice-president Abdul Qadir Memon has been deputed to deal with the societies registrar.
