LAHORE, Aug 4: Data Ganj Bakhsh Town councillors accused district Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood of interfering in the town affairs and raised slogans against him at a meeting held at the Lahore Press Club here on Monday.

The meeting, attended by more than 150 councillors of 33 union councils of the town, was convened by Data Town Councillor Ittehad headed by Sheikh Mugheesuddin and Chaudhry Zulfiqar.

Ittehad leaders said the organization had been formed to foil attempts to remove Town Nazim Khwaja Ahmad Hassaan and Naib Nazim Mian Usman. They alleged that the district Nazim was behind the move to topple the two officials and councillors were being offered development works worth Rs150,000 in their constituencies in exchange for their votes.

They said Mr Hassaan and Mr Usman enjoyed the support of the majority of the councillors. They appealed to President Gen Pervez Musharraf to take notice of the attempts of district Nazim to bring a bad name to the district governments system by interfering in the affairs of the town.

Meanwhile, district Nazim Mian Amer denied the allegations of interference in the affairs of the town. He said no trust against the town Nazim was its internal affair.
