PESHAWAR: An elderly woman from Dir Lower has accused the local leaders of Jamaat-i-Islami and officials of revenue department of grabbing her land.

Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club, Zuhra Begum alleged that Jamaat-i-Islami workers including MPA Aizazul Mulk Afkari sold her land to Wapda for setting up a grid station at Toor Camp in Munda tehsil without her consent.

She said that her father Mohammad Yaqoob was a Subedar in army and government had given him 50 acres of land in Mian Channu tehsil of Khaniwal district from military grant so he had shifted from Dir to Punjab.

“My father shifted to Punjab and gave his 64-kanal land in Dir on lease for a refugee camp. We received the lease money till 2016 but later some people including revenue officials illegally gave it for grid station for Rs47,000,000,” said Ms Zuhra.

She alleged that a group of people including Amjad Ali, Sultan Hameed, Dost Muhamad, Sher Zaman and Sher Bahadur were directly involved in the land grabbing in connivance with MPA Aizazul Mulk Afkari but no action was taken against them.

Dir woman appeals to army chief to help in retrieving her property

Ms Zuhra said that she was the only survivor in the family so everyone was trying to grab her property.

She said that she had all documentary proofs about ownership of the land.

“I have won the case in the local court and high court. It disappointed my opponents and once a group of armed men barged into my house and snatched my gold armaments worth millions of rupees,” she said.

Ms Zuhra said that the armed men also threatened to kill her if she continued to pursue the case in the court.

She alleged that a local patwari and tehsildar took millions of rupees in the allotment process.

She said all the people in her ancestral hometown knew about her and her property but even then the influential political activists and revenue officials deprived her of her costly property.

Ms Zuhra appealed to Chief of Army Staff Gen Javed Qamar Bajwa, Chef Minister Pervez Khattak and Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra to take notice of the illegal allotment and help her to retrieve her land.

She also demanded of JI chief Sirajul Haq to play role in recovery of her land as he knew about the case.
