Last emperor

Published May 26, 2017

‘Rangoon Days’ (Footprints, May 21) was informative and quite readable, but writer Iftikhar Salahuddin called Bahadur Shah Zafar the last Mughal emperor.

Calling the man whose rule hardly extended beyond the Red Fort was both amusing and amazing. The last Mughal emperor was Aurangzeb. Also, the writer said Bahadur Shah Zafar was sent on forced exile. May I say that all exiles, except self-exile, are forced. So, the question of a forced exile does not arise.
