DERA MURAD JAMALI: A team of senior police officers investigating the kidnapping of a businessman took into custody on Tuesday the watchman of the rice mill from where Kumar Ajwani was kidnapped.

Mr Ajwani is the son of former JUI-F senator Hemien Das.

Official sources said more arrests were expected in the case.

The sources said that the watchman had informed the kidnappers about the presence of Mr Ajwani at the mill as the businessman had been sitting at that time with his friends on the mill premises.

The sources said that after informing the kidnappers about the presence of Mr Ajwani in the mill, the watchman had gone outside his room to receive a telephone call and during that period the businessman was kidnapped.

The sources said that the police team was also questioning Mr Ajwani’s friends who were present in the room at the time of the kidnapping.

“The detention of some friends of Mr Ajwani could not be ruled out for interrogation,” the sources said, adding that police had also conducted raids at some places for the recovery of the kidnapped businessman.

Meanwhile, JUI-F, Citizen Action Committee and other organisations and political parties have given a 48-hour deadline to the government for the recovery of Mr Ajwani and warned of serious consequences if the kidnapped businessman was not recovered till the expiry of the deadline.
