LAHORE: Taking notice on the administrative side, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Tuesday directed a judicial magistrate to conclude trial in the stabbing case of a law student, Khadija Siddiqui, within one month.

The chief justice had sought a report from Lahore district & sessions judge about progress in the case. After going through the report, the chief justice ordered judicial magistrate Mubashir Hussain Awan to hold trial proceedings on a day-to-day basis and conclude the same within 30 days.

The chief justice also directed the director general of district judiciary to keep the high court updated on the progress of the case by submitting weekly reports.

Khadija Siddiqui, a student at a private law college, was allegedly stabbed by her class fellow Shah Hussain on May 3, 2016 near Shimla Pahari where she had gone to pick her younger sister from school.

The Civil Lines police registered a case against the accused, son of Advocate Tanvir Hashmi, on charges of attempted murder.
